IMAKATSU’s GiLLROiD Boots Tail is a bluegill-style big bait designed to faithfully replicate a bluegill. Its compact, thick-bodied design makes it easy to cast even into a headwind. With the Boots Tail attached, it measures 15.7 cm and weighs approximately 2.6 oz; with the Flat Tail attached, it measures 14.0 cm, allowing anglers to switch between two tails with distinct characteristics.
The original Boots Tail covers a wide area with a slow, steady retrieve and supports an IS variable high-speed retrieve, transitioning from an I-shaped action at extremely slow speeds to an S-shaped motion as the retrieve accelerates. Adding a pause during the retrieve causes the bait to shift into an inertial, side-to-side flashing dart. The Flat Tail excels at quick darts that make the bait rotate in place, making it ideal for targeting pinpoint areas around standing timber and other structure. The joint is equipped with a shock damper, and adjusting the damper’s stiffness allows you to fine-tune the transition between the I-shaped and S-shaped actions. Additional weight can also be added to the Quick Changer Hanger to adjust the bait’s specific gravity, running depth, and speed. The interchangeable tails let you choose between the Boots Tail for “covering water with a retrieve” and the Flat Tail for “enticing fish at a specific spot,” depending on the application.
