Imakatsu Aventa Crawler

IMAKATSU’s AVENTA CRAWLER is a crawler bait designed to trigger a bass’s territorial instincts by continuously tempting it across the surface at an ultra-slow pace that makes the lure appear to barely move. Measuring 11.5 cm and weighing in at the 1.3 oz class, its body is equipped with large duralumin wings. By firmly catching the water, the wings maintain the crawling action even when the lure travels only a short distance. The left and right wings also produce a clacking sound as the lure falls. During the retrieve, the lure maintains a slightly tail-down, horizontal posture while disturbing the surface with its distinctive sound and ripples. The hook placement has been designed with consideration for the spacing between the front and rear hooks, as well as the way the rear hook enters the water.

The basic technique is a “slack-line retrieve”: hold the rod high and keep the line floating above the surface, then use the weight of the slack line to move the lure forward. It is suited to slowly working the same path through pinpoint areas and along cover at farm ponds and reservoirs, where bass locations are easier to narrow down. Because it may not perform at its best on a fast retrieve, this model is primarily intended for slow retrieves that minimize forward movement. A prop or feathered hook can also be attached according to preference, but doing so may require a faster retrieve than usual.
