Imakatsu Do-no Shad

IMAKATSU’s DO-NO SHAD is a crankbait-style shad developed to reduce the tendency of shad plugs to snag, allowing anglers to target areas around cover simply by casting and retrieving. This 60 mm, 7 g floating model is intended for shallow areas with submerged cover commonly found in the Kasumi water system, including rocks, riprap, bedrock, sandbags, and gabions. In addition to a body design focused on cover avoidance, it features the “Hook Beat System,” which uses a blade to control excessive movement of the front hook.

This mechanism prevents the hook from swinging unnecessarily, reducing snags on cover while producing the subtle side-to-side wandering action characteristic of a shad, even on a straight retrieve. The basic presentation is a simple retrieve after casting, making it well suited to steadily working the lure while contacting cover. If the lure tracks to one side, it can be tuned by making slight adjustments to the line tie with needle-nose pliers or a similar tool. The standard model is designed as a shad that can efficiently pass through complex bottoms and areas around cover while enticing fish with its subtle wandering action.
