Imakatsu Ankle Goby

IMAKATSU’s Ankle Goby is a soft lure designed as a versatile, multi-purpose bait that is easy to use both on its own and as a trailer. The body features hexagonal ribs that create moderate bulk and a strong, water-gripping vibration. Its distinctive Ankle Tail is thick yet tapers toward the tip, allowing it to respond to even slight water movement with fine, rapid-pitch action. When used as a jig trailer, the tail stabilizes the lure’s flight posture behind the jig, also contributing to improved castability.

Available in 2-, 2.5-, 3-, and 3.5-inch sizes, the 2-inch model is suited to spinning finesse presentations and as a trailer for 0.9–1.8 g Abberabas, while the 3-inch model is suitable for standalone spinning finesse and bait finesse techniques, as well as a trailer for Abberabas weighing 1.3 g or more. When rigging the 3-inch model on a 1.3–3.5 g Abberaba, the official recommendation is to trim it at the first segment of the head. The 3.5-inch model can be used on its own like a ring worm and is also suitable as a trailer for the Shaky Chatter. It is compatible with jig heads, drop shots, light Texas rigs, split-shot rigs, and more. The balance between the body and tail weight provides an easy-to-control fall even with rigs using light sinkers.

The Ankle Goby High Float is a model based on the 3-inch version and made with a special high-buoyancy material. With a 0.9–1.3 g Abberaba, it can produce an ultra-slow fall. When paired with a 2.3 g Abberaba, it creates a slow fall and a soft, floating swimming action while allowing the use of a heavier head than with the standard model. This model is suited to situations where you want to reduce the fall speed of a small rubber jig while maintaining castability and distance.
