Imakatsu Rainbow Shad

IMAKATSU’s Rainbow SHAD is a hollow, floating realistic worm developed to make efficient use of the water’s surface, enticing fish with a subtle twitching action and a straight, I-shaped swimming action. The body features a hollow construction for high buoyancy, and even the material used for the line tie has been carefully selected to achieve a level floating posture. The lightweight line tie helps the bait remain stable on the surface, while the body is designed to fold inside a fish’s mouth when it is bitten. In the current model, the tail material has been changed to tinsel, creating a natural translucent look when backlit and producing flash in low-light conditions or when viewed from an angle nearly parallel to the surface.

Rigged weightless with a trout hook or offset hook, it readily maintains a straight course even when retrieved at ultra-high speed with an I-shaped retrieve. On the surface, it also supports the subtle twitching action produced by wacky-rigging it on a trout hook. The tinsel serves as an anchor that grips the water, allowing the bait to continue enticing fish while limiting forward movement. Inserting a jighead through only the thin layer of plastic on the top of the worm’s back raises the center of gravity and enhances its rolling flash. Setting a lightweight offset hook slightly toward the rear creates an irregular head-up action and a V-shaped wake on the surface, with 2.5-inch and 3-inch sizes available for different applications.
