ZOOM Trick Worm

ZOOM’s Trick Worm is designed around the simple profile of a straight-tail worm, with the buoyancy to cover everything from topwater presentations to subtle finesse techniques on the bottom. The 6.5-inch slim body has a flat underside, a thicker head section that tapers toward the tail, and a tip that flares into a darter-style shape. The varying thickness along the body creates its posture and movement underwater; even the slightest rod movement makes the entire body quiver, while on a wacky rig it produces a subtle wobbling action as it falls.

On a weightless Texas rig, it can be twitched across the surface, paused, and allowed to sink slowly. Rigging the hook near the center on a wacky rig brings out its fluttering action on the fall. On a shaky head, it is suited to subtle movements of the body atop the head, while on a Carolina rig it can be presented with a slow, arcing fall-and-drift. Adding weight to one end on a Neko rig allows the fall rate to be adjusted while maintaining a finesse feel. In addition to the standard model, the lineup also includes Magnum-style versions with a thicker, larger profile, as well as Z-3 models incorporating the characteristics of hand-poured worms.
