T.H. Tackle’s GOONIE50 is a crankbait developed not only to deflect off cover, but also to detect the presence of cover before the lure makes contact. Designed with cover cranking in mind, it focuses on both the lure’s ability to avoid snags and its ability to sense obstacles that rise above the bottom—common causes of getting hung up around cover.

Despite its large square bill, it reaches a running depth of approximately 1.8 m and is designed to enter the target range gradually rather than diving abruptly. This makes it less likely to dig excessively into the bottom and easier to trace around cover. The lure is tuned to transmit its wobbling vibration clearly through the line to the angler’s hand. When the line ahead of the lure begins rubbing against cover during the retrieve, the vibration weakens, allowing the angler to detect the approaching cover through this change. The GOONIE50 is a 50 mm, 11.2 g floating model with an ABS resin body and #5 hooks. It is designed for cranking while making contact with cover, using changes in vibration as an indication of the lure’s position relative to the cover.
