deps SAKAMATA SHAD is a stick bait designed to easily produce the springing, darting action of a fleeing baitfish with nothing more than a hook set. Keels along both sides of the body catch the water and initiate the action, while the streamlined body shape with minimal protrusions reduces water resistance, allowing for wide inertial slides and high-speed darts. The fins, working in conjunction with the keels, deflect water downward to make the body spring upward while also stabilizing the darting trajectory like a rudder. The split tail follows the movement and flutters like the tail fin of a baitfish.

The body is marked to help you set the hook straight. Slightly bowing the body during rigging enhances the effect of the keels, creating sharper and more erratic darts. Fished weightless, it produces an action reminiscent of baitfish frantically fleeing across the surface. With a split-shot rig or Carolina rig, the basic presentation is to make it jump up from the bottom and disappear into cover. The 4.5-inch model uses material with 10% salt, the 4-inch model uses 5% salt, and the 2.5-inch and 2-inch models use non-salt material, so specific gravity and fishing characteristics vary by size. A #3/0–#2/0 hook is recommended for the 4.5-inch model, and a #1/0 offset hook for the 4-inch model. Models 3 inches and smaller feature a solid body without a deep groove.
