Imakatsu Dumbbell Club

IMAKATSU’s Dumbbell CRAB is a specialized crab-shaped soft bait developed for sight fishing, allowing anglers to observe a bass’s condition while targeting fish searching the bottom for prey such as shrimp, crabs, and goby-like baitfish. Its textured, square-shaped twin body features long and short appendages arranged three-dimensionally in multiple directions. This multifaceted component layout, considered one of the most difficult structures to mold in IMAKATSU’s history, creates complex movement and a lifelike presence as it falls. The long appendages catch water and make the bait easier for bass to detect, while the body shape also considers casting distance and water displacement when the bait is worked to flee.

The basic setup uses an offset hook. Properly positioning the hook in relation to the body helps maintain a natural posture that takes advantage of the three-dimensional appendages. When a bass is spotted while sight fishing, a short drop-shot rig with an approximately 5 cm leader is intended for fish that appear likely to feed on the bottom, and is easy to use over sandy areas. In addition to attracting fish on the fall, the bait can be kept moving with continuous shaking or worked as though it is trying to escape. This model targets bass focused on bottom-oriented prey by combining the fall speed with the movement of appendages extending in multiple directions.
