Imakatsu Dilemma Popper

IMAKATSU’s Dilemma POPPER is a competition-spec ultra-compact pencil popper that packs long-casting performance and a surface action reminiscent of baitfish into a small Dilemma-sized body. Despite its compact 6.0 cm, 4.0 g body, a tungsten weight positioned at the very rear provides stable casting performance through a rearward center of gravity. The small cup produces realistic splashes, while the rear hook is equipped with tinsel. In addition to diverting attention away from the hook, the tinsel also helps fish inhale the lure.

The action is based on a pencil bait-style walking-the-dog motion, creating the appearance of a small baitfish fleeing across the surface while producing a gentle splashing sound. It is well suited for finicky bass moving through the backwaters of clear lakes, as well as bass focused on the surface in small bodies of water. It can be worked with short, tight head shakes over minimal forward movement, or continuously manipulated to make it flee across the surface. The Dilemma Popper70, an upsized version of the original model, features a slightly more upright floating posture to improve casting distance and attraction. With slow twitches, it repeatedly produces a splash-and-dive action; with fast retrieves, it transitions into a walk-the-dog-and-dive action, recreating the movement of baitfish fleeing in panic.
