Evergreen Otter Crawler

EVERGREEN International’s Otter Crawler is a floating noisy lure designed to target the surface with a wing-driven crawling action and multiple sounds, produced by Yasuhisa Hondo and developed under the supervision of Toshifumi Kikumoto. Its aerodynamic body design and wing balance enable straight, accurate casts and long-distance casting. The 1 mm-thick duralumin wings grip the water while resisting deformation, thanks to their bent upper sections, producing a popping sound. The metallic sound of the wings rubbing against the hinges, the low-frequency impact sound created by the narrowly set double joint, and the high-pitched sound of the V-shaped metal blades striking the body combine to create a complex attraction.

A fixed, low-center-of-gravity weight system—tungsten in the front body and steel in the rear body—stabilizes the crawling action and helps prevent the lure from landing upside down. Even when it lands belly-up, its design makes it easy to restore the proper position with a single twitch. The single concave section, double concave section, flat keel, and rear underfin assist with lateral and downward water displacement and vibration, accommodating retrieve speeds from dead slow to fast. If the lure tracks excessively to one side, turn the tuning eyelet little by little to adjust the wing angle. Both the front and rear are equipped as standard with Decoy Y-F33F size 1/0 treble hooks. The separately sold spare-parts complete kit allows replacement of components including the duralumin wings and V-shaped metal blades.
