Megabass Prop Darter 80

Megabass’s PROPDARTER 80 is a prop bait developed from the X-80 Trick Darter to produce surface boil action as a topwater plug. A metal shim was added to the X-80 Trick Darter mold to increase the body volume and boost buoyancy by approximately 20%, while the internal core was newly designed. The lip was also modified to a shape that churns the surface.

The dedicated scoop-shaped bill catches water while accounting for the body’s floating posture, generating a splash-and-dart action that stays just below the surface without diving too deeply or riding too high. The tall hunchback body and high-center-of-gravity design create a rolling action that continuously flashes the body’s sides even on a steady retrieve. The asymmetrically designed prop, with different shapes and molding angles on the left and right sides, produces irregular rotation and splash sounds, responding to techniques such as adding jerks to a straight retrieve or varying the retrieve speed. It is designed for retrieves with the rod held high, as well as stop-and-go techniques that imitate fleeing baitfish on the surface. It measures 80.5 mm in length, weighs 1/4 oz, and features a floating design equipped with two size #6 treble hooks.
