Why do we ship so many flat FedEx boxes? 📦

Hello everyone!

These are today's FedEx shipments heading to the United States.

You may have noticed that many of our bass fishing orders are packed in these flat, pizza-box-style FedEx cartons.

Of course, we sometimes use our own custom boxes. However, whenever possible, we choose these official FedEx boxes for bass fishing tackle.

Why?

Because most bass fishing products—worms, hard baits, hooks, terminal tackle, and apparel—are relatively flat. These boxes fit them surprisingly well.

More importantly, shipping in these standard FedEx boxes is often less expensive than using oddly shaped custom cartons. Lower shipping costs mean better value for our customers.

To be honest... these boxes aren't our favorite to pack.

They're narrow, it's difficult to arrange everything neatly, and they're probably not the easiest boxes for customers to unpack either.

After packing more than 100,000 international shipments over the past 15 years, we've learned that these boxes offer the best balance between protection and shipping cost.

One exception is large items like Coike, which are simply too bulky to fit inside these flat boxes. Those require a different carton.

Sometimes the simplest-looking box is actually the smartest choice.
